Valentina Rosamilia wins gold at the Duathlon Championships in Cuneo, bronze for her sister Nina

Both father Gerardo and mother Caroline have always played sport, regularly taking part in Swiss military races with the traditional seven-kilo backpack, just to name a few of their activities. Now their four Italian-Swiss children are following the same footsteps, but are even more active. The two eldest daughters – Valentina, 15, and Nina, 13 – swim three times a week, train in athletics once a week at BTV Aarau, are also members of the Tri Club Aarau triathlon club and, in winter, play ice hockey in the SC Reinach team. Their younger siblings, Adriano and Tiziana, are also sports enthusiasts and race from success to success – in four years the four little champions have collected over 600 medals and 150 trophies – competing practically every weekend. "For my children, my wife and me, the weekend races, which we usually combine with a trip," explains dad Rosamilia, "are a great opportunity to get in touch with people and socialise." Italian duathlon championships, "a sport young people like" But back to the first title won in Italy by Valentina and Nina who, thanks also to the support of the CONI Swiss Delegation, officially registered with the A.S. Minerva Roma Triathlon Club and were thus able to take part in the Italian youth duathlon championships in Cuneo held on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 April 2018. 876 athletes from all over Italy, aged between 11 and 23 and divided into categories (Ragazzi, Youth A, Youth B, Junior and Under 23), competed on cycling and running courses in both individual and team relay races. In the Youth A category there was a head-to-head until a few metres from the finish between Valentina Rosamilia (Minerva Roma/CONI Swiss Delegation) and Sofia Terrinoni (Green Hill). The last kilometre of running was a long sprint between the two; the Minerva Roma athlete edged out Terrinoni by a few centimetres. Third place goes to the winner's sister, Nina Rosamilia, also for (Minerva Roma/CONI Swiss Delegation), who led the chasing group that arrived 20 seconds behind the leading duo. The next stop for the new Italian-Swiss champion will be the Triathlon on 2/3 June 2018 in Porto Sant'Elpidio (FM).
