"Those who work for sport and spread it help the country" (Sergio Mattarella, at the Stadio dei Marmi during his visit to the CONI headquarters on 12/6/2017) As per tradition, the National Sports Day will be celebrated on the first Sunday of June which, this year, will coincide with the Italian Republic Day, 2 June, making the event even more fascinating. It is a great event open to everyone, taking place simultaneously across Italy and abroad where a CONI Delegation is present (therefore also in Switzerland). The appointment is aimed at those who love and play sport and at the promotion of numerous sports disciplines. This year too it was decided to confirm the winning choice of the previous edition, namely involving the Italian Communities Abroad (CIE) which, thanks to the organisation of promotional initiatives linked to sport and "made in Italy" by the CONI Delegates of the six recognised countries (Argentina, Brazil, Canada, United States, Switzerland and Venezuela), will be able to experience the 16th National Sports Day "from afar". Everything will take place under the direction of CONI which, in coordination with the associations, sports bodies and local authorities operating in the territory, will undertake, within its competences, initiatives to promote and enhance the educational and social function of sport as a fundamental factor for the growth and enrichment of the individual, the preservation of health, the improvement of quality of life and the empowerment and strengthening of civil society.
