Valentina Rosamilia Italian Youth Duathlon Champion 2019
Valentina's successes continue: in addition to various Swiss records, this year too she confirms herself as Italian duathlon champion in the Youth B category. On 6 and 7 April, in Cuneo, over 900 athletes from all over Italy took part in the 2019 Italian Youth Duathlon Championships, putting on a show over two splendid days, with big crowds and ever-growing interest in this sport. A very exciting Youth B women's race with a heart-stopping finale: three athletes immediately in the lead, contending for the national title down to the last metre. The three warriors are Valentina Rosamilia, Myral Greco (Minerva Roma) and Sofia Terrinoni (Green Hill), who start at the head of the group and battle for victory from the very first metres of the initial 3 km run. It is Rosamilia who leads the trio and launches herself to the front in the 10 km of cycling, where the two Minerva Roma athletes work together in search of the decisive breakaway. The small group does not break up and the three girls enter T2 together with Myral Greco in the lead. The last 1,500 metres all in one breath for Rosamilia and Terrinoni, who drop Greco and contest every centimetre to the finish line, where Rosamilia edges out Terrinoni by a whisker. Bronze medal for Greco. Women's standings www.fitri.it/images/2019/tricolori/cuneo/YB_F.pdf Duathlon, like triathlon, is an endurance sport. The Youth B duathlon consists of: 3000m running, 10km cycling and 1500m running.
